Advanced Pelvic Surgery, daVinci Gynecologic Surgery, and Pelvic Reconstructive procedures has been offered over the years by our office team. Dr. Wolny is board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Currently, she practices in Lincoln Park/Lakeview area and is affiliated with several hospitals in Chicago, including Presence Saint Joseph’s Hospital and Advocate Illinois Masonic.
The extensive experience enabled Dr. Wolny to perform advanced procedures in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery and daVinci Surgery including daVinci Hysterectomy, daVinci Myomectomy (Fibroid resection), Pelvic Pain and Endometriosis treatment. Additionally, conditions related to Pelvic Organ Prolapse and those requiring Pelvic Reconstruction, and Vaginal Reconstruction are being considered for evaluation and upon throughout consultation, performed in hospital settings.

Advanced Pelvic Surgery
Advanced Pelvic Surgery and DaVinci Gynecologic Surgery includes daVinci Hysterectomy, Myomectomy (Fibroids resection), Endometriosis treatment, Ovarian cysts resection or adhesiolysis (removal of adhesions within pelvic area).
DaVinci technology is very beneficial for the following reasons: increased visibility and precision given the surgical image (for the surgeon) is 10x magnified, high definition and 3D image. Patients benefit from the daVinci technology since the post-surgical pain is much less than after procedures associated with more extensive incisions, lower blood loss, shorter hospital stay and smaller incisions. Robotic daVinci platform is especially useful for complex procedures where distorted pelvic and abdominal anatomy is encountered in cases of severe endometriosis, and in cases with prior surgeries. These are usually complicated by extensive adhesions (scar tissue). Another benefit of daVinci system enables precise excision of multiple uterine fibroids followed by reliable suturing and restoration of uterine anatomy.
daVinci Gynecologic Surgery
Dr. Wolny utilizes the daVinci Surgical System for Gynecologic Procedures, including Hysterectomy, Uterine Fibroids Resection, and Excision of Endometriosis. Additionally, she uses daVinci technique for Removal of Ovarian Cysts, Resection of Adhesions, and Management of Pelvic Pain. The benefits of the daVinci technology are numerous enabling excellent precision and accuracy of the procedure.
One of the most beneficial features of the technology includes 3D visualization and 10x magnification of the surgical field. To access the most intricate areas in the pelvis, DaVinci instruments enable superb dexterity of the human hand. Thus, in contrast to 2D laparoscopy, da Vinci technology brings many valuable benefits because of its 3D vision and dexterity of the robotic instruments. Because of minimal incisions utilized to perform DaVinci robotic surgery, the postoperative recovery is much shorter than in open (laparotomy) surgeries or laparoscopic procedures. Additionally, patients experience less postoperative pain because of a lesser interaction and tissue handling of DaVinci instruments with human tissue.
